We recently posted a card on Instagram and we had a few questions on how it was done so we thought it would be perfect to create a quick post. I can't say enough that I love circle punches and a good circle nesting die set is something I probably use daily. Anything circle that punches paper is a good basic to have to all occasions. There is just so much you can do with the circle shape. I first created a watercolor wash using a few different blues and greens to give an ombre look.
Stamp the whale and fussy cut it out. Yes, fussy cut - you can do it!
Then, for coloring in, you have a lot of options but for this, I quickly sponged the whale with a light blue ink.
I stamped the word in black ink and used my 1 1/2" circle punch.
For the smaller circles, I used a 1/2" punch and 1/8" hole punch and clear sequins to layer all of the circles to create a bubbles effect.
You can also use mounting tape to give some dimension to the different shapes.
Here is the Under the Sea set used to make this card. You can see that there are endless possibilities of various cards you could create with this set.
Thanks for stopping by!
Great cards!! You are so creative! I love the under the sea set so much!!
I love the way you’ve used circle cuts on your watercoloured background! The “bubbles” look fabulous!
